AWIS - LSC Annual Retreat Spring retreat 2006: St. Croix State Park May 12-14 This year we are doing a spring retreat to help us get over our cabin fever. We should be able to go hiking, see spring wildflowers, and just enjoy nice spring weather. The house we will be renting can accomodate up to 15 people in 6 bedrooms. There are lots of outdoor activities including miles of hiking, paved biking, and unpaved mountain bike trails. Deserae needs retreat commitments by April 15. The retreat will only cost $24-$36 per person for the whole weekend, depending on the number of folks who attend. (Those who can stay only one night will pay the same price). Winter Retreat 2005 The Annual AWIS Winter Retreat was held on the edge of the Boundary Waters Wilderness at a cabin located at Fenske Lake. Snow shoeing and cross country ski options are plentiful. We can ski the North Arm ski trails or shoe / ski to the Hegman Lake pictograph site, bass lake waterfall or just ski / snowshoe around our lake. Ely is not far away for those who would like to do a little shopping. Winter Retreat 2004 Six members
enjoyed our annual weekend retreat on February 7-8 including Lynette Carney,
Donna Forbes, Deserae Hendrickson, Penny Morton, Ginny Snarski, and Stacey
Stark. We stayed at the River House in the ABR Resort in Ironwood Michigan.
We skied for two days out our back door on nice fresh snow, and really
enjoyed the great trails at ABR- very pretty! Once again, we carried on
the tradition of making way too much yummy pizza for dinner! Pizza was
also followed by the traditional cutthroat match of Mexican train (a dominoes
game). The victor at dominoes was Penny, who also received the award for
most impressive somersault on the ski trails. Unfortunately, we were not
able to witness this spectacular fall directly- only the snow covered
figure emerging from the brush! -Deserae Hendrickson
