announces 2010 Science Teacher Grants
Grant
funds are available for area science teachers who will use them to
encourage girls and young women in sicence, math, and engineering.
The grant is open to any junior-high science or math teacher in the
Duluth-Superior and surrounding area. Grant money can be used for
equipment or supplies, field trips or projects, or other science,
math, or engineering activities outside the classroom. Grants of
up to $300 per project will be awarded. The money must be used by
August 1, 2010. Applications are due by Dec. 21, 2009, and applicants
will be notified by the end of January on the fate of their application.

Receiving awards for the 2009-2010 academic year are:
Washburn Edison School to purchase supplies to make genetics learning
fun using Mr. Potato Heads: $250
Carlton High School to fund a field trip to Duluth for girls to visit
with women scientists and specialists: $300

College Youth Symposium: $300
